Remember That One Time...

Remember that one time a few days ago when we looked at that weird, strange, dark, creepy shadow?

Well, maybe it wasn't creepy, but it was definitely weird and strange.

I'd love to say that it was a shadow from my cute, adorable, fun-loving little girl, then it wouldn't be so weird and strange.

I'd also love to say that it was a shadow from my ever-growing baby bump... which is growing.

But it's neither of those.

IMG_1756

Rather, that large curve in the shadow is from another growing part of me... my rump. Doesn't make that shadow too pleasing, does it?

Although we can see where Baby Blue gets that crazy hair from.

Even the fact that my husband took the photo of me doesn't make it any easier to accept.

I think maybe we'll just say the shadow is from my cute little girl. I like that one better.

Here my husband even captured a different angle, you know, capturing 'the moment' with Briony and all... and it's still there.

The joys of pregnancy.

Now, please excuse me while I go eat another doughnut.

“A good motto is: Use friendliness but do not use your friends.”
~Frank Crane

I love taking cue's from my daughter and her friends. They are friends for the fun of it, for the joy in friendship and nothing else. What would the world be like if we all thought that way?

Playing With Shadows

shadow

Sometimes playing with shadows can be just too doggone fun. Can you tell what this is a shadow of?

Pictures are fun.

Which reminds me..

(warning: business to follow, if you're here just for fun, then bypass the next paragraph.)

Wordless Wednesday... A Little Gathering From The Garden

After the picking always comes the observing, and thorough checking, and washing... then, of course, the eating!

The Weekend.

tent

Our weekend consisted of making living quarters out of metal rods and waterproof fabric.

volleyball

Playing lots of volleyball, with trees, a couple ropes and a ball.

camp food

Eating good ole' fashioned camp food, making faces and playing games around the camp fire.

IMG_5795

Hiking and trekking through some insane places to get to some amazing water falls.  Biking our way around an island, while hearing the water crash onto the rocks.

And this pregnant, 'non-camping type' loved all of it!

Nature, I love nature, just usually not sleeping in it, although last weekend may have cured me of that.

Or not.

Sunday Citar

It's time to share a quote or two... a favorite, a new find, a laugh inducing or tear inducing quote you love this week! Sunday Citar is here again!

“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God's handwriting - a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

This was a moment in this past week's journey, where we stopped to admire the sky, and the view from up high that took our sight as far as our eyes could see.  It was beautiful.  And then, as we left, my husband caught me in a moment with my phone... sharing the moment with you all on twitter.

During the summer, we always try to make time with friends for a weekly game of sand volleyball.  There's nothing like it, the sand under your feet... and pretty much everywhere else, the exercise and the laughs.  It's usually stunts like this one, performed here by my brother, that bring out the laughs.  The best part, the ball still made it over the net.

It's been a busy morning, packing for a quick trip away, stopping by the office to finish up about five lingering projects... and then, road trip!  It's always fun waking up in one bed, and going to sleep in another.

Sunday Citar

Sunday Citar was born out of my affinity... err, obsession... for quotes.  I find them fun and inspiring and love quote of all kinds equally.  Funny, serious, deep, obvious, meaningful, pointless, they're all fun to read.  If you feel the same way, then this is your chance to share in the fun!  Welcome to Sunday Citar!

~Anonymous

I just love when my husband grabs the camera, and says. "Hey, look over here!" It's always intriguing to see what he comes up with behind the lens.  He's an incredible photographer, and I love seeing the world through his eyes, even if it is just for a glimpse.

Pyromaniacs

IMG_3674

It was an exceedingly explosive night.  The skies were lit up like a prairie fire on amphetamine.

Sorry.

IMG_3683

My husband and two brothers always make a special trip to stock up on enough explosives to turn our backyard into an inferno.

IMG_3643

It just so happens that this year, we were a bit distracted, and the whole holiday came around with no shrapnel or smoke to be found near our house (well, I take that back, my husband did dig out a few smaller fireworks to make a show for the kids, but nothing like the usual grandeur).

IMG_3670

And with that, I have a few confessions to make.

First, since we didn't have our own fireworks display this year, I think it's safe to assume that these pictures weren't from our house.  If that's what you're thinking, then you're right.  These photos were taken on a trip to Chicago over Memorial Day... thus the worn out looks on our faces, from walking around all day, and the freezing cold we were experiencing that evening on Navy Pier.

Second, I haven't taken a photo in two days, and before that it had been two days, and before that.... I could go on.  Yes, it seems like I had been distracted by the consistent nausea I faced this past week and a half, and I didn't think a photo of our porcelain seat sounded very inspiring.  Thankfully, it looks like I may be coming out of that slum and facing new signs of life.

My Own Little Poser.

With Aliyah recently being in a wedding, we found ourselves with a good amount of 'waiting' time on our hands.  Being on location early in the morning for photos, time was our gift.  And since I wasn't the wedding photographer, I had plenty of time to fill myself.

IMG_4687
One thing I've noticed is that this girl knows how to fill time.

IMG_4688
She just finds a spot she likes and gets herself ready to be photographed.

IMG_4691
I guess that's what happens when you grow up around a camera... you either ignore it (which happens often as well), or you start posing yourself whenever you see a nice rock, or patch of grass, or tree, or up-side-down bucket to sit on.

IMG_4697
And most times, she's sitting there while I'm saying, "Wait, hold on! I don't have my camera out!"

I need to learn my lesson.

IMG_4701
And then she does this... and I remember she's my cute little two-year-old girl.
