The little one in our house is about to have a birthday, and a large candy themed party. This means lots of shopping for candy of all kinds... especially for a few lollipops. I think summer always needs time spent out on the swing with a big lollipop to lick.

Sunday Citar

Sunday Citar was born out of my affinity... err, obsession... for quotes. I find them fun and inspiring and love quote of all kinds equally. Funny, serious, deep, obvious, meaningful, pointless, they're all fun to read. If you feel the same way, then this is your chance to share in the fun! Welcome to Sunday Citar!

“Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.”

days of summer:: 15

With the recent days feeling much more like fall than summer, I knew I needed to soak up these last bits of summer that I could find. I'm not sure how long it will last, some days the rays of sunshine warm the blades of green grassy cover, and other days a gray sky covers each blade with thick drops of water. Each morning bring a new discovery of either warmth on our skin or a chill in the air. It's definitely not been our typical summer.

A Different View of the City

While I was in Chicago yesterday, sitting comfortably in a large conference room for the majority of the day, Chris was keeping himself busy with the many view of the city.

IMG_0014

Like this view from the top of the city, with just a layer of glass between him and 1,353 feet of air before the cold, hard concrete below. I guess it was like being in a big glass bubble, 103 stories up.

I was content in the 80 degree conference room and looking at these photos later on, I'm sure either way I would have broken into a sweat. Still, it is a very cool way to see the city.

Some days...

I wish there were two of me.

I'm in a hotel with my husband, and I miss my little girl.

I'm in meetings today and yet thinking about all the other projects I could be working on.

The times I get a moment to myself, I think about what my family is doing.

family

So I'm learning to really be in each moment.

The time with my husband is special and all too soon, time will be filled with other people.

The moments with my daughter are precious, and in just a few short months she won't be the only little one in our home.

Each moment of work needs my full attention, so that when I am finished, my full attention can be somewhere else.

hugs

Today, I'm enjoying each moment, each conversation, each embrace... each and every detail.

Have you come across an inspiring quote lately, or one that made you cry, or laugh, or sneeze? Yeah, me too... and this is the place to share it! Welcome to Sunday Citar!

"If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it."
~ Mary Engelbreit

It's amazing the differences each and every person will see when looking at the same thing. Something good, something bad, something pleasant, something bothersome, something normal, something different, something magnificent, something as a means to an end.

If you've reading Fresh Mommy for awhile you'll know the story, our story, behind this bridge. Sometimes you just have to make a decision to change, and the results might be better than you imagined they would be!

Fun Family Fotos

Ok, I do realize that 'foto' is not the proper spelling, but where's the fun in being proper?

Last night, we really did have a great time with a fun family. And though, this isn't a 'foto' of the family, the parents were pretty cool themselves... and I just had to give a sneak-peak.

The Petersons

Enjoy your weekend and have a fun-filled fabulous Friday... and take a few 'fotos' if you can.

Fab Finds:: Soap Nuts + Giveaway

......................................................................

As is no secret, and you may have noticed by now, I'm totally down with doing things the natural way. I love cleaning with good-for-us products, having the things we use on our body be safe enough to eat, making hummus and applesauce, and picking from the limited vegetables we've grown in our garden.

But I'm not a complete do-it-yourself-er... there are many things that I don't do, and take the easy way out.

So a few months ago, when I was about to stock up on the natural ingredients necessary to make my own laundry detergent, I found myself tired at just the thought of it. Little did I know that at the time, I was pregnant, and that may have been the reason for my fatigue. Nonetheless, I backed out on my determination to make detergent and bought another bottle.

It was then I received an email from my mother telling me about this cool product she found, and thought her slightly-granola daughter might be interested in it.

Well, she didn't actually say the slightly-granola part.

I ordered a starter pack right away, and have been in love with doing laundry ever since.

Except that I don't like to do laundry, and still have a few piles waiting to be washed. But the laundry that eventually does get washed, and often at the hands of my husband, that laundry is clean, fresh and free of any added chemicals!!

soap nuts

I know, it looks weird, strange even. And I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I ordered a box of nuts to wash my family's clothing. But the fact that
Soap Nuts really are completely natural (grown on trees is about as natural as you can get) had me ready to try.

There have been a couple of times that we've had an especially dirty, wet and stinky load to be washed and I decided to use my old stand-by chemical detergent... only to end up re-washing the load with Soap Nuts because it didn't smell clean enough.

I just recently learned that
Soap Nuts also come in a liquid form, probably for those who feel that throwing a couple of nuts in their washer won't do the job.

Although, if they can clean and freshen the clothing, blankets and towels from a 4-day rain filled camping trip, then they can pretty much get anything clean.

IMG_6941

Upon hearing that 60% of baby's eczema and 40% of children's eczema is triggered by detergents and that Soap Nuts have been used as an age-old treatment of eczema and psoriasis, I knew I had to tell you all about it.

Oh, and one more thing! Leave a comment, any old comment at all, on this post, and be entered to win a trial size Soap Nuts pack!! I truly feel that if you just try Soap Nuts, you'll like it just as much as I do, so I want to get it into your hands.

So, what are you waiting for? Say what's on your mind.

Recently, while I had to be away for the day for work, and since it was a weekend day, my husband had big plans for our little princess. From what I've heard, she had a wonderful time, complete with rests and a good, long nap. He really knows how to take care of his little princess.

Sunday Citar

It's time to share a quote or two... a favorite, a new find, a laugh inducing or tear inducing quote you love this week! Sunday Citar is here again!

in her shoes
“In Her Shoes”
~Curtis Hanson

For me, this week, the quote is short, sweet and to the point. I couldn't think of a more fitting description of this photo, or the way my sweet little one has been feeling lately... wanting to be in mommy's shoes. I think it's a good example of how we all should think sometimes, about what it's like to be in someone else's shoes.

Aliyah and I have been spending lots of time together lately, more than usual. I'm not sure it's because she senses change is on it's way, knows that I'll be traveling again soon, or the fact that I may just be moving much slower lately and resting more. Maybe it's a combination of all three. No matter the reason, we're loving our special cuddle times.

Have you come across an inspiring quote lately, or one that made you cry, or laugh, or dance a jig? Yeah, me too.

Well, forget I said the 'dance a jig' part.

It's Sunday morning and I'm still waking up.

Anyway, back to the quote... this is the place to share it! Welcome to Sunday Citar!

The Stariwell.

architecture

Isn't it funny how random objects can make you happy?

Like this building. It's not special really. I think it's a stairwell actually, but it's a fun shape... and that makes me happy.

Although, many things in this life make me happy.

Stickers are not one of them.

But pretty blue skies over fun shaped buildings, now that's something I can smile about.
